How to Book Mobile Detailing in Austin (and What Happens When We Arrive)

7 min read

Booking a mobile detail is a six-step process that takes about two minutes, and the part people get wrong is almost never the booking - it is the access and the cabin. This walks through both: how to book, what to have ready, and exactly what happens when the truck pulls up.

How to Book

1. Pick the service

Exterior $150, interior $200, or full $250. If you are not sure, the deciding question is simple: if the problem is inside the car, book interior; if it is the paint, book exterior; if it is both, book full.

2. Pick a time from the calendar

The calendar shows what is actually open. There is no phone tag and no waiting to hear back about availability - what you can click is what exists.

3. Give the address the car will be at

This is the address where the vehicle will be parked during the appointment, which is not always your home address. An office lot or a partner's driveway works just as well.

4. Sort access before the day

Gate codes, garage access, a call box, or a visitor space. This is the single most common cause of a delayed start, and it takes two minutes to handle in advance.

5. Clear the cabin

Everything left in the car is a surface that cannot be cleaned. Ten minutes clearing personal items, cargo and child seats materially changes the result.

6. Leave, or stay - either is fine

The work takes about two hours for interior and three for full. You are welcome to be there and welcome not to be.

Open the booking calendar to see what is currently available, or compare the services first.

What "Comes to You" Actually Means

It means the vehicle does not move. Not to a shop, not to a bay, not into a queue. A self-contained truck arrives at the address you gave, sets up within the footprint of the parking space, and does the whole service there. That is why an apartment space, a garage level, or an office lot works as well as a driveway - and why a detailer who needs your spigot and an extension cord cannot serve most of Austin.

It also means the appointment does not cost you a day. The comparison against dropping a car at a shop is laid out in what your car detailing options in Austin actually are.

What Happens on Arrival

  • A walk-around of the vehicle with you, or a set of notes if you are not there
  • Anything that would change the price raised at this point, before work begins - never after
  • Setup inside the footprint of the parking space, using the truck's own water and power
  • The service worked through in order, interior or exterior or both
  • A final pass and a walk-through of the finished vehicle

The second item on that list is the one worth holding a detailer to. A price that changes after the work is done is not a quote, it is a surprise. Anything that would move the number gets raised at the walk-around.

Prep That Changes the Result

Ten minutes before the appointment is worth more than any add-on you can buy. Clear the cabin, pull the child seats, empty the trunk or cargo area, and make sure whoever needs to open a gate knows the appointment is happening. The complete list is in how to prepare your car before a mobile detail.
